Assassin's Creed 3 for Wii U in the preview: How Nintendo's console beats compared to Xbox 360 and PS3

Assassin's Creed 3 will be released later this month also for the start of Nintendo's Wii U. We have the version now at a preview event of Nintendo can already play beforehand and compared how the Wii U hits compared to the Xbox 360 and the PS3.

The mission, which has shown us a Nintendo Wii U event recently, contains only one mission, which is located late in the campaign. Assassin Connor needs to break into a fort and remain unseen. If he catches, you start from scratch. Are graphically it at first glance, only minor differences: The surroundings are beautiful, just as you are out there up climbing the wall of the fort, one sees that the vegetation gently rocking in the wind, stones and masonry are highlighted climbing detailed. After a few moments, however, we enter the fortress and it is pitch-dark: since no windows let in more light, a comparison with its previously released console versions difficult. How to Xbox 360 and PS3, but the lighting effects are simply amazing: flames licking up on torches and throw creepy shadows between which moves Connor back and forth.

Close-up shots of Connor, so in cutscenes, you can see in our opinion but then nuances that differ from each other - and not even true negative. Connors facial features seen on the Wii U, for example, slightly different, slightly drawn differently. Whether this is true, will have to show in a final test, we can compare the two version really 1:1. In such details, the Wii U could still score points-generally does not fall on the more.

What stands out is the control with the Wii U controller design. Once you get used to moved button assignment, you will not even miss the big map and the weapon selection on the touch pad. Quite cumbersome for that is in the previously available versions. For great games, where you have to go to the TV, now look to the GamePad, Ubisoft admits fortunately no place. This is one of the biggest criticisms of many third-party implementations for Wii U: The use of the touchscreen controller is usually a joke. It is a pity, of course, that Assassin's Creed 3 for Wii U almost a month after the versions for Xbox 360 and PS3 appear even the PC version will still advance. Game console and would come out at the same time, Wii U would have been interesting as a platform for maybe New buyers and early adopters. So it fits in with third-party games that core gamers already know, of course, of their other gaming platforms.
